Room 7's Noa Paul Williams Tereu Rugby World Cup

Eat your heart out - William Webb Ellis.  The competition is fierce in the Room 7 RWC challenge.

Whoop!  There it is!  The Noa Paul Williams Tereu Rugby World Cup.  It's a mouthful but the kids named the cup hehe.

Yesterday Ireland took the early lead with our rugby knowledge quiz.  However, in an intriguing day of competition.  Fiji have come from last place to be in the number one position in preparation for our final day tomorrow.

Habits of Mind - in group situations you need to think interdependently.
JERSEY DESIGN CHALLENGE

Firstly, the children learnt how to fold their jerseys using the ancient paper folding  art of the Japanese - Origami (seriously re-read that sentence with a Japanese accent...it's hilarious...the class love my accents haha)

Each country had to brainstorm a design for their country's jersey.  They needed to include an image for the sleeve, come up with a sponsor and have their flag on their strip.

The children assessed their own work against the competition rules as well as assessing the jerseys of other countries.  Fiji won this challenge.

Fiji scored top marks for consistent design and an attractive jersey that represents their country.

Samoa also scored high for their consistent design and a jersey that represents Le Manu.

Top contenders Ireland produced a consistent design that represents the Emerald Isles.  The jerseys look terrific.

Tonga's great team work produced a jersey with a consistent design that represents this Pacific Nation.

Oops sorry this is upside down hahaha...The South Africans produced a beautiful jersey.  However, they missed out on points because they didn't keep a consistent design.

The South African team.

The Flying Fijians

Le Manu Samoa
The Kingdom of Tonga
The Emerald Isles - Ireland

So there you have it whanau.  Tomorrow's the last day of the competition.  Should be really exciting and super-competitive again.
